Wedding Dresses on a budget.

 In Bridaldress

Often brides put pressure on themselves and think bridal dress shopping is a big decision. I have news for you, getting married is “The”  big decision, dress shopping should be a happy time. What you wear on your wedding day should ultimately be your choice, but there’s no need to break the bank. Bridal dresses can be expensive but you can have what you want without compromise if you find the right retailer. Let’s offer some advice:

Smart Planning

I can summarize this and keep it short. 1) Figure out your budget. 2) Avoid confusion. We see this all the time, where brides bring large entourages and everyone has differing opinions. 3) There’s no need to try on every dress at every store within your reach. This gets you lost in a  sea of dresses and you will be overwhelmed and lose focus. 4) Let the consultant know what your likes and dislikes are and be open-minded. Quite often, brides leave with dresses they never thought of.  A good consultant will figure it out after 4 or 5 dresses.

Be Confident

To streamline your shopping process, you should plan accordingly. Figure out who is the one or two persons that have your best interest at heart and that’s who you take along with you. If you don’t take charge, someone else will. Get an idea of the silhouette you’d like, but be open to the fact that it may not be best for your  body type. An honest consultant will make you aware of this and guide you accordingly.

Timing Is Important

Bridal dress lead time can be up to 8 months for certain gowns. You also need at least a month for alteration fittings, so 9 months is ideal, but don’t procrastinate. Recently shipping has been a nightmare and no one needs additional stress plus you don’t need rush fees.

Fabric and Dress  Construction

While you may have likes and dislikes for certain fabrics, ask questions if you are uncertain. Fabric and details impact cost. You want to be comfortable on that day and fabrics help more than you’d know. Some dresses have built-in details for comfort, hold, fit, and glamor. Prioritize your needs.

Measurements and Details

Different manufacturers use different size charts. A good consultant will be able to take accurate measurements that you agree with. Proper measurements can avoid and or minimize alteration needs and cost. If you’re planning on weight loss after ordering a dress, a bit of advice is no one knows where the weight comes off or if they gain, where it adds on. If you plan to change the size, discuss it with the consultant.

A good bridal store will be in your best interest, especially when shopping for low-budget wedding dresses.
